Are you being you? When you’re doing your marking and everything else, I know a lot of people will copy everyone else or a lot of their competition, guess what? If you want to surpass them, maybe look at what they’re doing that’s really working. A lot of what’s out there isn’t working, but you want to have your own self.
So, I used to, like seven or eight years ago, I did a ton of videos. Then I quit doing ’em because we got involved in some big software projects, and now we’re actually going out and marketing for “ourselves” for our agency.
And one of the things that I’ve been told, and I know to be true and it is true now, is there’s gonna be certain people that are gonna be attracted to you. I don’t care how bad you think you are on camera. I don’t think, I don’t care if you look bad or you don’t like the way your nose looks, I’ve heard all of these weird excuses, or I can’t talk. If you are truly you, if you’re genuine, and you’ve got something that can help other people either get away from pain or seek pleasure, that’s the only two reasons anybody does anything.
All decisions are based on that. Get away from pain or seek pleasure. And a lot of times it’s getting away from pain whether it be little or small. And when you’re doing the marketing, especially if you have a brick and mortar business, unless you’re like even butt ugly and I’m just getting here, even then, if you think you are, you’re probably not, that you should do your own marketing. Get in front of a camera like this. I’m sitting down. I’m outside. I’m in NashVegas, and it’s kind of cold and dreary, but there’s no one around, and I’m having a cigar on Sunday.
And so, and everything you heard about nicotine’s not correct. It’s actually a psychotropic that helps your neurons connect and think faster. So, whole other program, I don’t wanna get off on that. Do a deep dive on X. You won’t find it on Google. They suppress that stuff.
So anyway. So be yourself. You know, do something that’s you. You don’t have to be, you know, even our videos, yeah, they’re transcribed and we have subtitles, but we’re not doing a lot of editing on this stuff. I just whip ’em out and my editor, who’s great, we’ll go through it, or if I have to, I’ll go and through and through and get ’em done. But just be yourself and, and actually give people some information that they can use, you know, and if you’re hesitant about putting your face out there, don’t be.
Go to iQMarketers.com, and if you’re a local business, you should have your face up front. People don’t wanna do business, you know, if you got this cool logo, it looks like Mr Plumber or whatever, that’s cool. Have your face on there.
And the other thing too is for consumers, this is something that’s going on, there are big hedge funds that are going out and they’re buying a bunch of HVAC companies, like 9 or 10 of them, and they’re all cutting, they’re putting in pricing out there, and I think that they’re gonna get taken out doing this. But the local mom and pops, oftentimes aren’t local mom and pops. There is a conglomerate and I know it’s happened in a number of cities and it’s been going on in most of like the plumbing and heating and cooling and everything else, definitely the dental trade and some of the doctors. So, it’s not the old, it’s not the single small business anymore. It’s a flipping conglomerate out in New York who doesn’t give a crap about customer service or more. They do to the extent that it affects their profitability to a little bit, but they don’t care about the community.
So, when you put a dollar back in your own community, it’s gonna save yourself. So, I would be on the look at. If you’re doing services, don’t go for the big national brands. Nothing wrong with them unless they’re owned locally because you want to have some impact on the people that are, and you can do a lot by just supporting small businesses in your area.
