We want everyone to be able to use this site, regardless of ability or the technology they browse with.
Our standard
This site is built to target WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Accessibility is part of how the site was constructed, not an afterthought, and not something we hand to a widget. We find problems, fix them in the code, and keep a dated record.
What is built in
- Color contrast at or above AA ratios on every text and background pairing we designed, checked with measured values.
- A minimum text size of 16 pixels everywhere, with no italic text.
- Full keyboard operability, a skip-to-content link on every page, and visible focus indicators. The cookie notice reserves its own space so it never covers whatever has keyboard focus.
- Semantic HTML structure with one heading-one on every page, proper landmarks, labeled form fields, and a real-text menu button on phones that announces whether it is open.
- Pages reflow down to a 320-pixel-wide screen without sideways scrolling.
- No autoplaying video or audio, no scroll-triggered animation, and the one small hover motion on the homepage mascot turns off for visitors whose devices request reduced motion.
How we check
The last review was on October 13, 2026: measured contrast on every color pairing, heading structure on every generated page, keyboard checks of the menu, cookie notice, and forms, and layout checks at phone width. Problems found were fixed in the code the same day.
Automated and in-house checks catch only part of what matters, so here is the honest gap: this site has not yet been tested by people who use a screen reader every day. That testing is the next step.
Known limitations
- Older lesson content. The 127 lessons were written over several years on a previous platform. Some images inside older posts have short or missing descriptions, and some posts contain headings that are out of order. We are working through them.
- Song lyrics and video pages. Lyrics appear as plain text, which works with screen readers; the YouTube player itself is Google's product and some of its controls may not fully meet the standard.
- Tools made by others. The email signup is processed by Brevo and the video player by YouTube. We test how they behave on this site, but their controls are theirs. If one of them blocks you, contact us and we will help directly.
