We respect the rights of creators, and we expect the same in return. This page explains how to tell us if you believe something on thelongercrowbar.com infringes your copyright, and what happens next, under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).

How to send a takedown notice

Send your notice through the Contact page (put "DMCA notice" in the message) or call or text (615) 628-7386 to get a direct email address. For the notice to be valid under the DMCA it must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature, or that of someone authorized to act for you.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
  3. The exact address (URL) on this site of the material you want removed, with enough detail for us to find it.
  4. Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

What we do when we get one

We review every complete notice promptly. If it checks out, we remove or disable access to the material and keep a record of the notice. If it is incomplete, we will tell you what is missing. Knowingly sending a false notice can make you liable for damages under the DMCA, so please be sure.

Counter-notices

If material you posted was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice containing: your signature; identification of the removed material and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address, and phone number; and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if outside the United States, any district where we may be found) and that you will accept service from the person who sent the original notice. We may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days unless the original complainant tells us they have filed a court action.

Repeat infringers

We will remove content from, and end the participation of, anyone who repeatedly infringes copyrights.
