Montgomery County Antique Tractor Show

I'm walking through the Montgomery County Antique Tractor Show in Tennessee, and there are some seriously cool old machines here.

International Harvester.

Farmall.

McCormick-Deering.

Allis-Chalmers.

John Deere.

Oliver.

Deutz.

Massey Ferguson.

Ford.

And even a few tractors and manufacturers I haven't seen—or thought about—in years.

Some of these machines bring back memories too.

I came across an old three-wheeler with the push-button starter, and believe it or not, I drove one when I was about three years old.

Apparently three-year-old me figured out how to start the thing and take off.

I remember people running after me while I was driving away laughing.

Probably wasn't nearly as funny for them as it was for me. 😂

Walking around this show, there are tractors representing completely different eras of farming.

You've got incredibly basic machines with exposed mechanical components and simple frames.

Old row-crop tractors designed to work through corn without knocking everything over.

Diesel tractors with mechanical fuel injection.

Cultivators.

High-clearance tractors.

And machines built by companies whose names you hardly ever hear anymore.

I even found an old Leader tractor connected to Auburn, Ohio, with a 1947 Hopkinsville reference on it. I haven't seen one of those in forever.

Then there's an old Deutz diesel that had me crawling around trying to figure out exactly what I was looking at.

That's half the fun of an antique tractor show.

You walk up to something you've never seen before and start figuring out:

Who built it?

How old is it?

What did they use it for?

How does it work?

And how in the heck is this thing still running?

Modern farm equipment is incredible, but these old tractors let you see the machinery in a completely different way.

Everything is right there.

Engines.

Starters.

Fuel systems.

Frames.

Controls.

Mechanical linkages.

You can actually see how people engineered these machines to get work done.

If you love antique tractors, old farm equipment, vintage machinery, agricultural history, or just anything mechanical, you'll enjoy walking through this one with me.

Pretty cool.
