The Best Classic TV Commercials 49
Hey, Frank. What's the word, Louie? I've got an idea for a Budweiser commercial. I'm hoping they might air it on the big game. Does it involve maiming the frogs? Oh, no. It's about beechwood aging. Really? Yeah, the camera moves to a forest of beech trees, sunlight shimmering, a loom singing in the distance, while the announcer talks about the brewing process and the unique taste of Budweiser beer. Now that's a nice commercial, Louie, nice and simple. Yeah. There's more. Ah, no. Suddenly, one of the trees, ah, begins to fall, and we zoom in on the frogs, and they're screaming, AHH! NO! PLEASE! And the tree lands on them. That's a bad ending. And we bring up the Budweiser logo. And you know what, it's not even a funny commercial. Oh, come on, with the right sound effects?
Check out this effective Budweiser TV commercial. Now, the big question is what can you do to your advertising and marketing to make it this good? Humor, over-the-top situations, and sex appeal all make it work. This can give you huge leverage, or as we like to say, a longer crowbar. Are there any parts of this that you can use?
