Assume the best. Assume that they are perfectly capable, and you know they're capable because you taught them to do the thing, right? So, assume that they're going to do the thing. And then just say, "What's your plan for doing that thing?" So, instead of saying, "I don't want to ask you a hundred times," I just say, hey, my youngest daughter is Lou. I say, "Hey, Lou, what are your plans for taking out the trash before we go to cheer practice?"
And then it's like, it's not me telling them what to do. It's me implying, one, that they're competent enough to do the task.
