Is Adobe Toast?
Is Adobe Toast?
I think Adobe has a serious problem, and open-source software could be one of its biggest challenges yet.
I've spent decades watching technology companies rise, dominate their industries, and sometimes lose their competitive advantage.
Remember Netscape?
Sometimes a company builds an enormous business around something that eventually becomes available for free.
And I believe Adobe could be facing a similar turning point.
In this video, I'm looking at Adobe's stock performance, its valuation, and some interesting open-source projects I discovered on GitHub.
One that caught my attention is ArtCraft, which showcases alternatives aimed at creative workflows traditionally handled by products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, After Effects, InDesign, and Acrobat.
These projects are still developing, and they aren't necessarily replacements for every professional Adobe workflow today.
But I believe they represent something important.
Adobe's competitive advantage is facing new challenges.
And it's not just about price.
For years, I've been frustrated by increasingly complicated interfaces, changing workflows, licensing issues, and customer service experiences.
Sometimes I just want a tool that does ONE job exceptionally well.
Think about it like a kitchen knife.
A great chef's knife does its job beautifully.
A Swiss Army knife does a lot of things, but it isn't necessarily the best tool for preparing dinner.
I think too many software companies have forgotten that distinction.
And that creates opportunities for independent developers.
If you can build a simple, reliable product that solves one problem better than a complicated enterprise platform, you might have a business worth pursuing.
I also share my personal outlook on Adobe's stock and why I believe its valuation could face additional pressure.
Could I be wrong?
Absolutely.
Markets are unpredictable, and Adobe still has valuable products, customers, and business relationships.
But I believe the competition is changing faster than many investors realize.
This is my personal opinion and commentary, NOT financial advice. Nothing in this video is a recommendation to buy, sell, or short Adobe stock or trade options. Consult a qualified, licensed financial professional before making investment decisions.
Now I'd love to hear from you.
Are you still using Adobe?
Have you switched to Canva, open-source software, or other creative tools?
And do you think Adobe can adapt to the next generation of Ai-powered software?
