Yep, the robots are already here. 😂
I'm walking through BJ's and this little guy roaming the aisles is called Tally.
It's an autonomous inventory robot that uses cameras, sensors, computer vision, and AI to scan the store and help keep track of what's on the shelves, where products are located, whether something is out of stock, and whether pricing is accurate.
Think about what that means.
A job that once required employees to continually walk aisles checking inventory can increasingly be handled automatically while the people working in the store concentrate on other things.
And this is just one little robot rolling around BJ's.
Now imagine what happens as robotics and AI become cheaper, smarter, faster, and capable of handling more complicated jobs.
That's the part I find fascinating.
And maybe a little creepy. 😂
AI isn't something that's coming 20 years from now.
It's already here.
It's answering phones.
It's scheduling appointments.
It's automating offices.
It's checking inventory.
And increasingly, it's moving around in the physical world.
Cool and creepy at the same time, isn't it?
Get used to it, kids. This is where we're heading.
