Wood-Mizer: From Log to Lumber
Ever wonder how a log becomes lumber?
I'm at the tractor show watching a Wood-Mizer sawmill turn an eastern cedar log into boards, and this is just cool to watch.
The log goes onto the mill.
The saw passes through it.
And what comes off the other side is freshly cut lumber.
I'm showing you one of the pieces right after it's cut, while it's still covered with sawdust and rough around the edges.
But look underneath that sawdust.
The color of this eastern cedar is beautiful.
You've got reds running through it, and some areas almost look purple.
It's one of those things that's easy to overlook when you're looking at a log from the outside.
Then somebody cuts into it and suddenly you get to see what's been hiding inside the tree.
That's one of the things I enjoy about these old machinery and tractor shows.
You don't just get to see the equipment.
You get to watch people actually use it.
From log to lumber right in front of you.
