Almost All Restaurant Food Comes From This One Company

A Huge Amount of Restaurant Food Comes From This One Company

Have you ever wondered where restaurants actually get their food?

One name you're going to run into over and over again is Sysco.

When I recorded this, I guessed they might supply 80% or 90% of restaurant food.

Sysco supplies restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, entertainment venues, and hundreds of thousands of other customer locations.

And that's something I think about when I'm eating out.

Just because you're eating at a different restaurant doesn't necessarily mean you're dealing with a completely different food supply chain.

Personally, I want to know:

Where did the food come from?

Is it fresh or frozen?

What's actually in it?

Is the meat wild-caught, grass-fed, conventional, or farm-raised?

Are there preservatives or other ingredients I don't want?

I'm not saying food is unhealthy simply because it came through Sysco. Sysco sells an enormous variety of products, including produce, proteins, specialty products, and other foodservice items.

My point is simpler:

Don't assume you're eating completely different food just because you're sitting in a different restaurant.

Ask questions.

Read menus carefully.

Find restaurants that care about sourcing.

And whenever possible, know what the heck you're putting into your body.

Be careful out there, folks.
