The Timeless Road Maintainer
The Timeless Road Maintainer
This is the first one of these I've ever seen.
I'm still wandering around the Montgomery County Antique Tractor Show in Tennessee, and I came across an old road maintainer built around a Ford tractor chassis.
Basically, take one of those old Ford tractors and add a grader to it.
Now you've got a machine designed to maintain and grade roads.
Pretty cool.
I've put plenty of hours on old Ford tractors, so seeing one adapted into something like this immediately caught my attention.
And these old machines just keep going.
I joke that this thing will probably still be running after you, me, and our grandchildren are gone. 😂
That's one of the things I enjoy about looking at vintage machinery.
Somebody had a job that needed to be done, took a proven piece of equipment, adapted it for that job, and put it to work.
And decades later, here it is at an antique tractor show.
Apparently these road maintainers are pretty rare, too, which makes finding one even more interesting.
Now I've got to go.
I see some of my slow tractor competition. 😂
